Mock exams are the hardest thing to run well
Anyone who has marked a class set of Writing scripts at midnight knows why most centres run fewer mocks than they should.
Writing and Speaking marked by one or two teachers is the bottleneck. Here every Writing script and online Speaking interview is marked for you, and you only review.
Timers, audio, section order, late students, power cuts. The clock, the order and the audio are handled by the system, not the invigilator.
When marking drags, students move on. Here they get a full report with what to fix first, while the mock is still fresh.
A mock day in four steps
- STEP 1Buy seats
Pay for a pack with M-PESA or card. Your centre account is created the moment payment clears and the invite arrives by email.
- STEP 2Schedule a mock day
Pick the paper, the start window and the students, and choose how Writing and Speaking are run. Invitations go out by email.
- STEP 3Students sit it
Each student sits all four skills on their own screen, on a strict server clock. You can watch progress as it happens.
- STEP 4You review, then release
Check the marking, adjust a band, add a note, then release, or let the 48-hour hold run. Students never see a result before you can.
You decide how each skill is run
These choices are made by your centre when you schedule a mock day. Students cannot change them.
Run it the way your room allows.
- ✓On screen: students type Task 1 and Task 2 and it is marked on submit.
- ✓On paper: we generate the printable papers, question sheets and lined answer sheets for each student. You hand them out, collect them, then type each script in exactly as written. It is marked the same way as a typed one.
A real examiner, or an AI one when you do not have the staff.
- ✓Face to face: print the examiner sheet, the Part 2 cue card and the scoring sheet. You examine each student, then enter the four criterion bands. The AI is never asked to mark a face-to-face test.
- ✓Online: each student speaks to an AI examiner through their microphone. You can still review and adjust the band.

Questions centres ask
When is a seat used?
A seat is used when a student starts a mock, not when you schedule it. A student who misses the window simply never uses one. Seats last 12 months from purchase, and you can see your balance and your promised seats at any time.
How many students can sit at once?
As many as have a device and a connection. Each student runs their own sitting on their own timer. Plan the room around devices and headphones, and use paper Writing and shifts if you have fewer machines than students.
What do students need?
A laptop or desktop, headphones, a stable connection and (for the online Speaking interview) a microphone. A sound and microphone check runs before any clock starts.
What if a student’s power or internet fails?
Their answers save as they go and they can resume, but the clock keeps running, as in a real exam. For a genuine technical failure, you can cancel that sitting and return the seat before the student has seen their results. A student who started but never opened any part is cancelled automatically after six hours and the seat is returned.
Can students see their results straight away?
No. By design, results are held for 48 hours from the moment the whole test is complete, so you can review first. You can release early, one student or the whole session, or let the hold run.
Can we use our own papers?
No. Mock tests run on IELTS Master’s own original papers, which are written with AI assistance in the published IELTS format. They are not past IELTS papers.
Is the band an official IELTS score?
No, and we never present it as one. It is a practice estimate, built from the published IELTS band tables and criteria, for planning study. IELTS Master is independent and not affiliated with the British Council, IDP or Cambridge.
Do we need teachers on the platform?
No. As the centre admin you can run everything yourself: schedule, print, examine, review and release. Giving individual teachers their own students to review is part of the full IELTS Master platform, which you can add at any time.
What is “mock tests only”?
Buying seats creates your centre with Mock Tests switched on. Training lessons, practice tests, AI Writing and Speaking assessments and progress tracking are separate and stay locked until you add the full platform from your portal. Nothing is lost when you do.
Do you give receipts and invoices?
A receipt is emailed when payment clears. If you need a formal invoice for your accounts, message us on WhatsApp with your payment reference.
Can I try one first?
You can buy a single mock for yourself on the students’ page and see exactly what your students would. For a centre trial, message us on WhatsApp.
